President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians to desist from making inciting and inflammatory comments capable of upsetting peace and causing disharmony.

The president said this in Abuja, yesterday, while declaring open, a two-day roundtable meeting with Special Advisers on Religious Affairs from the 36 states and the Abuja Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

Themed “Towards Synergising and Interfacing in the Religious Sectors for National Development,’’ the meeting was jointly organised by the offices of the Senior Special Assistants to the President on both Islamic and Christian Matters.

The president, who was represented by the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, said:
“We should continue to assist government with prayers and positive counselling and desist from making inciting statements and comments capable of causing disharmony and breach of the peace. 
“It should be noted that, by the teachings of our faiths, we shall all account for our deeds in the hereafter. I therefore admonish you to live by example always and to do good for the development of our country and humanity,” he added. 
“We are working round-the-clock to transform all facets of our socio-economic and political lives. 
Let me reiterate that we remain resolute in our quest to provide positive development to Nigerians anchored on peace and harmony. 
We equally remain unwavering in our commitment to bring to an end, the security challenges confronting our dear nation,” he said.

Fire guts Adopoly School Of Engineering Building [See Photo]

The School of Engineering building of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, housing several offices and a large classroom was ravaged by fire last night November 15th, destroying documents and properties worth millions of Naira. The fire started around 10pm and completely burnt the complex. It took the combined efforts of men of the Ekiti State Fire Service, the Polytechnic Fire Service, security officials and students to prevent the fire from spreading to other facilities in the school.
